Training for schools

As a competent partner in the area of media and information literacy, TIB regularly offers courses for teaching staff and pupils.

Teachers are provided with extensive information about the range of seminars for schools. They can also find out about how they can teach pupils search skills in the seminar subject. Free teaching material is provided.

For grade 11+ pupils preparing a research paper, we provide an introduction on how to use the library and how to conduct thematic and internet searches. Teachers can make appointments for their pupils:

Pupils learn how to use a scientific library, and the services it offers. Depending on the chosen subject, they are given an introduction to the relevant library site, the collections available there, and our online services.

Pupils learn how to search for items in a library catalogue and specialist databases; how to interpret information about the location of an item; and how to borrow the items required.

The maximum number of participants and the content addressed depend on which library site is visited.
