Audiovisual media such as videos of research experiments, simulations, animations, video abstracts or conference recordings are an important part of scientific communication and publication culture. Among other things, they complement scientific articles, can be linked to them and also play a central role in the publication of (free) educational materials.
The TIB AV-Portal, is a reliable, innovative and non-commercial platform for scientific videos. In accordance with the TIB's collection priorities, its focus is on technology as well as architecture, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics. However, the AV-Portal is explicitly open to other scientific disciplines as well.
The AV-Portal is the ideal publication platform for you and your video content. The only requirement: the videos must be relevant from a scientific point of view. This is the case, for example, if they are directly related to scientific activities, such as a lecture or article publication, and fulfil the principles of good scientific practice.
You can publish your content flexibly and precisely in the AV-Portal. In the following you will find information on the various publication methods.
Detailed information can be found in the AV-Portal FAQ under "Upload videos".
We will be happy to support you in publishing scientific videos effectively and accurately in the TIB AV-Portal. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact us.
For extensive or very large video collections, for example a lecture series or lecture recordings of a conference, we offer a streamlined workflow using cloud or FTP solutions, among others.
Are you an institution interested in a long-term, intensive cooperation? Then talk to us about the possibility of a media partnership with additional benefits.
In principle, the TIB AV-Portal is an open and transparent (publication) platform for scientific videos. By default, the videos are published in a legally secure manner according to Open Access principles. The open licence - in particular Creative Commons - can be selected individually.
Alternatively, publication is also possible with a non-exclusive transfer of rights of use and consent according to German copyright law with reservation of all rights.
In any case, it is important that the rights of third parties are respected - especially if so-called third-party content such as music, images or video material is part of your videos.
Please note: The AV-Portal is a non-commercial offer. Content subject to payment, such as music subject to GEMA, cannot generally be published. Exceptions must be agreed individually.
