In 2016, the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) started publishing authoritative and time-based, automatically generated metadata of films from the TIB AV-Portal as linked open data. Current metadata is regularly made available for downloading in the standardised Resource Description Framework (RDF) model and under CC0 1.0 Universal at https://av.tib.eu/opendata. A complete data dump is available, as well as segments of the entire data stock in formats rdf/xml, text/n-triples and text/turtle.

TIB seeks to continuously expand its services in the areas of linked open data and semantic web. The aim of the project is to improve the interoperability and reusability of metadata from the AV-Portal, to continuously optimise the data quality and to develop innovative services for the use of data by TIB customers. The following individual aspects are to be undertaken:

  • Implementation of internationally established standards for identifying individuals and organisations (ORCID, ISIL)
  • Further development of the data structure and optimisation of the quality of data in the AV-Portal
  • Dereferenceability of internal AV-Portal URIs
  • Provision of an application programming interface for complex data queries
