The aim of the project is to establish a portal for free educational materials to support teachers in creating and compiling high-quality course materials. In the first step, the platform will be set up and evaluated in the context of universities in Lower Saxony.

Description

Open Educational Resources (OER) are materials for educational contexts that are freely available, shared and modifiable on the Internet, for example. The possibility of using OER, adapting it to specific teaching and learning contexts and further developing it (collaboratively) can considerably facilitate access to high-quality educational materials and open learning. This is based on the following: open licensing of materials and  the use of technical standards that guarantee the searchability, reusability and interoperability of digital materials.

The aim of the project is to establish a portal for free educational materials to support teachers in creating and compiling high-quality course materials. In the first step, the platform will be set up and evaluated in the context of universities in Lower Saxony. An extension to other educational institutions will be considered from the beginning. In addition to setting up an OER portal in Lower Saxony for this purpose, another goal is to network several portals for searching in distributed instances. This includes the provision of a central repository on the basis of edu-sharing at the TIB Hannover as an entry point for a search in distributed content servers.
