I am Post-Doc in the Joint Lab of the TIB and the Research Center L3S and work on distributed semantic research data management systems. I have a PhD in Computer Science from Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, an M.Sc. in Software Engineering from the University of Polytechnic, Tehran, Iran, and a B.Sc. in Software Engineering from the University of Science and Culture, Tehran, Iran. I am the author of numerous journal and conference articles on heterogeneous data processing, query languages, conceptual modeling of research data, and data integration. I have invented a new query language (QUIS) for data retrieval from heterogeneous data sources. I have also introduced a new data life cycle (JenPlane) for scientific data management projects to mitigate the shortcomings of traditional waterfall life cycles such as DataOne and USGS.
Before joining L3S and the TIB, I was a team leader and software architect at BExIS, a web-based research data management system used by many projects including iDiv, AquaDiva, Max Plank BGC, Biodiversity Exploratories and ATTO. I have led a large national project to conceptualise and develop ontologies for 21 geo-related areas including geochemistry, geophysics, exploration and mining. In addition, I have participated and contributed to international educational programs at the University of Michigan and the University of Lisbon. I am currently a member of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and lead the Variable Interoperability Working Group.
Research
At the TIB and the L3S I am leading the developments for the research data management and working on the Boost 4.0 Core Ontology.
