East Asian specialist literature
This focus of our collections comprises specialist literature from East Asia. This collection, defined as the area between North and Southeast Asia, has been expanded for practical reasons to include the entire region stretching from Mongolia to Indonesia and from Burma to Japan.
In the area of English-language literature from these countries, the focus is on the subject areas and target group of TIB's focus of collections.
The acquisition of materials in the original language focuses mainly on:
- Scientific journals and periodical-type series
- International and important national conferences
- Specialist dictionaries where one of the languages involved is either English or German
- A limited selection of standards and monographs
The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin's East Asia Department is responsible for the systematic procurement and transregional provision of scientific literature from the areas of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
