Access off campus
Members of Leibniz Universität Hannover have a variety of options for also accessing our range of licensed databases, electronic journals and e-books off campus –wherever they are, and regardless of the library's opening hours .
Members of Leibniz Universität Hannover are students, professors, research assistants, technical and administrative staff.
The VPN service at Leibniz Universität Hannover
The VPN (virtual private network) service enables users to link up to the campus network from any location. After being connected, you will be assigned a university IP address. You will then also be able to access virtually all of our licensed databases, electronic journals and e-books.
All information required to set up the connection can be found on the Leibniz University IT Services (LUIS) website: Information about the VPN service
Authentication via a library server
For the vast majority of licensed databases and electronic journals, Leibniz Universität Hannover employees can also carry out the authentication process using a valid TIB library card.
A login page will appear if you access a database or journal subject to licence from a computer outside the IP area of Leibniz Universität Hannover, for example. You should then enter your library card number and your password. Once you have logged on successfully, you can access the requested electronic resource.
Only Leibniz Universität Hannover employees can log on this way; it is not possible for students to do so! It must be noted in your user account that you are a member of Leibniz Universität Hannover. A member of staff at the Circulation Desk can enter this information upon presentation of the relevant supporting documents.
Accessing Beck-Online and juris off campus
Students can have their own personalized off campus access via their university email address. Off campus access to the Beck-Online database for students is initially limited until the end of 2021.
Academic staff at Leibniz Universität Hannover can also gain remote access to the Beck-Online and juris databases, enabling them to use these resources from home.
Please complete the Remote access application form and hand it in to the Circulation Desk at the TIB Conti-Campus site.
