Core of the development is a near patient blood gas analysis system which is to replace the current analysis methods during the intraoperative and postoperative stage. So far, blood gases are analyzed on regular blood tests in hospital's clinical laboratories requiring huge efforts and costs by the hospital staff and management. A near patient online system would increase the turn around time, reaction time in case of complications and thus increase patient safety. In this sub project a measuring module and a control module have been developed. The task of the measuring module is to actuate the valves and pumps in the disposable part and to read and amplify the electrical signals coming from the sensor card, which is part of the disposable. The module uses pneumatic pressure to actuate the valves and the pump. The measuring module is connected with the control module by a hybrid cable incorporating all electric and pneumatic lines. The control module incorporates the compressor, the control valves and the electronics which are needed to supply the measuring module.
