We propose how to identify an original watermark from a picture in opposition to an attacker who overwrites another watermark to it by similar means. We make use of the relationship between the multi-resolution representations of the original and the embedded pictures. Then, we utilize the basic characteristic such that the phase of picture shifts a little from it depending on the change of amplitude of spatial frequency. The watermark does not give the image serious damage. This pattern can be deduced among the multi-overwritten watermarks, independently. Therefore, this method can be effective for digital watermarking.
