What work is being undertaken by researchers at my establishment? What have they published? The current research information system VIVO offers comprehensive, up-to-date and needs-based answers to these and many other questions concerning research information. The Open Science Lab of the Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) – German National Library of Science and Technology will present the current research information system VIVO at the Federal State of Lower Saxony’s shared stand at CeBIT 2017 – the world’s biggest trade fair for the IT industry.

VIVO is a member-supported, open source software for representing scholarship. VIVO supports editing, searching, browsing, and visualizing scholarly activities. VIVO encourages showcasing the scholarly records, research discovery, expert finding, network analysis and assessment of research impact. VIVO supports visualized evaluations of publication frequencies and co-authoring networks. Researchers can edit their profiles and add information on their own. VIVO can be easily extended to support additional domains. VIVO is a one-stop shop for publicly accessible research information.

VIVO helps to ensure that duplication of work is avoided, that time and money is saved, and that cooperation is encouraged.

VIVO relies on linked data and open standards. With the provided ontologies, scholarly persons, projects, publications and much more can be described, additional ontologies can be implemented easily.

TIB will present its VIVO activities at CeBIT and will inform all those interested about the possibilities offered by the system.
