Whether image data, videos or metadata – there is plenty of open cultural data waiting to be discovered in Lower Saxony's museums, libraries, archives and many other cultural institutions. The participants of the hackathon "Coding da Vinci" are to show what all this data, which can be freely reused, contains.
Many enthusiastic and motivated participants from the developer, gamer and media community, hackers and many more are expected to breathe new life into this open data at the kick-off from 23 to 25 October 2020 in the Kulturzentrum Pavillon in Hanover – in the form of exciting, creative, useful and entertaining applications, whether apps, games or visualisations.
The hackathon will be organised by a consortium which currently includes the TIB (project management organisation), the Bürgerinitiative Raschplatz e. V. (supporting association of the Kulturzentrum Pavilion in Hannover), the Cluster die Sozialagentur e. K., the TU Braunschweig (University Library), the Landesmuseum Natur und Mensch in Oldenburg , the Göttingen State and University Library, the Niedersächsische Landesamt für Denkmalpflege (office for the protection of monuments and iites Niedersachsen), the Lernoase Vahrenwald, the Museum Association for Lower Saxony and Bremen, LeineLab, silverLabs, the Wikipedia Team Hanover, the head office of the Gemeinsamer Bibliotheksverband (VZG), the Bildungsverein Soziales Lernen und Kommunikation e. V., the InformationsGesellschaft mbH (Bremen) and the "Make" magazine of the Heise publisher.
