From 12 to 16 February 2018, FOSTER (Fostering the practical implementation of Open Science in Horizon 2020 and beyond) and the TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology will bring together Open Science trainers and educators in the FOSTER Book Sprint to collaboratively author a training handbook.
What works, what doesn’t? How can you make the most of limited resources? Our authors will create a handbook that equips future trainers with methods, instructions, exemplary training outlines and inspiration for their own Open Science trainings. The handbook will provide Open Science advocates across the globe with practical know-how to deliver Open Science principles to researchers and support staff.
The handbook will be produced in a book sprint, meaning to create a finished book in just a few days. Our team of 14 experts will have five days to prioritize topics and to actually write the training handbook. The new training resource will be accessible online. Comments and other contributions will be possible after the book sprint.
The handbook will be produced by a team of 14 experts within a few days. The resulting training handbook will be available online.
Panel discussion on Open Science
As part of the Open Science Week 2018 at the TIB, a panel discussion entitled "Putting Open Science into Practice" will take place on Thursday, 15 February 2018, starting at 19:00 in the Patents and Standards Reading Room (internal link) under the title "Putting Open Science into Practice". It will focus on how Open Science can be put into practice and how researchers can implement openness in their scientific work progress to others and make it accessible and reusable.
Following the FOSTER Book Sprint, the participants will give an initial insight into the training handbook they have written and discuss their findings with young scientists who are participating in the Open Science Fellows Programme of Wikimedia Deutschland, the Stifterverband and the Volkswagen Foundation.
