Informatik 2017 is set to take place in Chemnitz from 25 to 29 September 2017. At this year’s official Annual Conference of the German Informatics Society (GI), the largest informatics association in the German-speaking world, experts will gather to discuss the key topic of “Digital Cultures”. At Informatik 2017, participants will shed light on the achievements, objectives, challenges and risks surrounding digital cultures.
Professor Dr: Sören Auer, Director of the Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) – German National Library of Science and Technology and Professor of “Data Science & Digital Libraries” at Leibniz Universität Hannover, will deliver a keynote on the “Tag der Informatik”, the highlight of the conference. He will present the BigDataEurope platform in his lecture entitled “BigDataEurope – platform for the data-driven solution of social challenges” on Wednesday, 27 September 2017. In addition to containing existing components relating to data management and data analysis, the platform also integrates specific add-ons for the semantic processing and integration of heterogeneous data. The open-source BigDataEurope platform is a good alternative to commercial equivalents, particularly when it comes to tackling social challenges – such as in the areas of medicine, mobility, security and food.
