Virtual courses and technical requirements

"Education in the digital world" series of events at the Kultusministerkonferenz stops in Hannover

It is now impossible to imagine German universities without virtual courses of instruction. However, there are major differences – in the use of technology, the range, the scope of the teaching materials, the respective subject matter and the implementation.

On 28 and 29 May 2018 TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB), Leibniz Universität Hannover and the association ELAN will host the event "Virtuelle Lehrangebote und technische Anforderungen" (Virtual courses and technical requirements) at the Leibnizhaus in Hannover.

On these two days, the focus will be on the diverse formats of virtual learning that have been established at universities. Participants – including teachers, learners, experts from e-learning, education, universities and libraries – will have the opportunity to discuss how virtual teaching can work and be sustainable. It is a question of how teaching materials such as Open Educational Resources (OER) – open and free teaching and learning materials – can be designed, how material can be made available on portals, what technical prerequisites are necessary, how university-wide cooperation can look like and how Open Science in teaching can be further advanced.

The TIB is not only involved in organising the event, but TIB employees are also involved in the programme in various formats. The following workshops and lectures are planned:

  • Workshop: "Kollaboratives Schreiben, Wiki-Plattformen und forschendes Lernen – Erfahrungen mit Book Sprints an der TIB und an der Hochschule Hannover" von Dr. Ina Blümel und Lambert Heller (beide TIB) on 28 May 2018, 13:30-15:00
