Historical Philosophy Dictionary (HWPh) online – four-week test access to database

Campus-wide use of HWPh online – trial run until 31 October 2017

In October 2017, the Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) – German National Library of Science and Technology offers trial access to the database "Historical Dictionary of Philosophy (HWPh) online", which has recently been made available in full text for digital use. It is one of the most comprehensive, significant and successful publication projects in modern German-language humanities. In contrast to other encyclopedias, which primarily contain definitions and explanations, the Historical Dictionary of Philosophy offers a conceptual historical approach by presenting philosophical terms primarily in the context of their historical development. It documents the genesis and changes in meaning of more than 3,600 terms – including those from related disciplines such as theology, psychology, pedagogy, sociology, history, politics, medicine and sciences – from the beginnings to the present.

This database will be available to members of the Leibniz Universität Hannover in the campus network on a trial basis until 31 October 2017.
