How can research and industry work together to promote digitisation? What are the prerequisites for successful cooperation between industry and science in this area?
Successful start: Series of events "Research meets industry" well attended
More than 60 guests from science, industry and economic development in the region accepted the invitation of Prof. Dr. Sören Auer, Director of the TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nejdl, Director of the L3S Research Center, to discuss the challenges and possible solutions for successful digitisation in cooperation between science and industry at the opening event on 6 March 2018 at TIB.
In various formats, in impulse lectures, technology presentations and lightning talks, representatives of science and various economic sectors presented their applications, projects and ideas. Big Data Analytics, Semantic Data Integration, Machine Learning, Visual Analytics, Web Science – the topics provided points of contact for in-depth exchange at the topic tables during the matchmaking break with the experts from the TIB and L3S.
In the final panel discussion with representatives of Volkswagen, Continental AG, Nord/LB and the medium-sized company brox IT-Solutions GmbH from Hannover. The hurdles of digitalisation were also discussed, expectations and requirements for successful cooperation between industry and science were discussed, and forecasts for the future of digitisation were made.
In recent years, the TIB and L3S have built up a wide range of research and technology expertise in key areas of digitisation. These will also be presented in the subsequent events of the economy. The new series of events will serve as an incubator for transfer and innovation projects with the aim of strengthening cooperation between research and industry for successful digitisation in the Hanover region.
