The Fellow Program Free Knowledge enters its third round - apply for a scholarship now

TIB staff member again as mentor and TIB as scientific partner in the Fellow Program

The Fellow Programme Freies Wissen (Free Knowledge) is a joint project of Wikimedia Germany, the Volkswagen Foundation and the Stifterverband and was initiated for the first time in 2016. It is aimed at young researchers (doctoral students, post-docs and junior professors) who wish to shape their research processes openly. For the third year of the programme, which is now starting, up to 20 scholarships will be awarded, each of which is endowed with 5,000 EUR. The application deadline is 15 May 2018!

For the first time, not only young scientists but also research assistants who are employed at infrastructure or science-supporting institutions can apply. The prerequisite is a Master's degree or equivalent university degree that was obtained no more than 10 years ago. The aim of this expansion is to promote the opening of science in these institutions as well.

The Fellow Program supports the Fellows over a period of eight months. They not only receive financial support, but also the opportunity to further develop their projects together with an experienced mentor and to network with many experts in open science.

The TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Technology and Natural Sciences is once again participating in this programme year as a scientific partner with qualification offers in the Fellow programme. Dr. Ina Blümel, researcher in the Open Science Lab of the TIB and acting professor at the University of Applied Sciences Hannover (HsH) in the Information Management course of studies, is again a mentor as in previous years.
