The TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology has developed a prototype, the "TIB Data Manager – CKAN Distribution for Research Data Management by TIB and Leibniz Universität Hannover", which ensures effective research data management. The TIB created the open source application based on the web-based data catalogue software CKAN (Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network).
The "TIB Data Manager" is a data management system that supports and improves the administration and access to heterogeneous research data publications. In addition, it enables the visualization of different formats of research data, which makes it easier for researchers to select relevant data sets for their respective discipline.
“With this instrument, the TIB contributes to the strategic goal of supporting researchers at every stage of their scientific work, especially in the field of research data management," said Prof. Dr. Sören Auer, Director of the TIB.
As an open source tool, the "TIB Data Manager" offers public and academic research and industry a wide range of possibilities for expanding and linking established and developed research data management systems.
Further information on the "TIB Data Manager" and examples of visualization of research data sets can be found at https://datamanager.tib.eu/.
