TIB starts automated visitor counting

Test period begins on 29 September 2020 at the TIB Conti-Campus, TIB Science/Technology and TIB Social Sciences sites

From 29 September 2020, the TIB will be testing a new, automated visitor counting system at the TIB Conti-Campus, TIB Technik/Naturwissenschaften (Science/Technology) and TIB Sozialwissenschaften (Social Sciences) sites. The new real-time visitor count will be anonymized in accordance with data protection regulations. It works via sensors at the main entrances.  In this way, the TIB wants to record how many people visit the library every day. The real-time visitor counter is a first step towards a planned display of the library's learning room usage in the future.

The previous manual counting tours of the TIB staff – with clicking hand counters – at different times of the day are to be dropped permanently. However, during the extensive test phase of the automated visitor counting system, manual counting will be carried out in a parallel process
