Summary

The Schrödinger-like relativistic equation for bound states of the two-fermion system is considered. The general properties of solutions and spectra of such equations are derived. The equation is applied for a description of the$$q - \bar q$$ system with arbitrary spin. Using the square-well potential and two ways of symmetry breaking, the equation obtained for the$$q - \bar q$$ system is solved for pseudoscalar-octet mesons.
