Library traineeship and postgraduate training - higher civil service

Training for librarians to work in the higher civil service qualifies them for engagement in a specialised department and to assume a senior position in libraries. The prerequisite is the successful completion of a (scientific) degree. The Association of German Librarians (VDB) offers an overview of all postgraduate courses.

TIB is one of eight libraries in Lower Saxony where library trainees can complete the practical part of their training. Training is more or less in line with demand, which is why TIB prefers to train engineering and science graduates. In addition, the TIB also offers internships as part of the library traineeship or a postgraduate bibliological library science programme.

Training commenced on 1 October each year; the announcement and information about library traineeships in Lower Saxony can be found on the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library website (Training Authority).
