The focus of the Hackathon Creating New Dimensions, which starts on 24 and 25 September 2022 at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Haus Potsdamer Straße), is 3D – many of the data sets will contain great 3D models, but the final product can also produce 3D projects from 2D data through creative transformation processes. All this will be decided in the end by the hackathon teams at Creating New Dimensions.
In this 3D Hackathon, there is the wonderful opportunity to realise apps, websites, virtual reality or augmented reality implementations, designs, installations or whatever else your own and your collective imagination can come up with, in teams. Even people without programming skills are welcome, because at Creating New Dimensions everyone is invited to contribute their individual talents and skills.
Getting creative with data sets
There is a lot of potential for fantastic applications in exciting scientific data: What can be done with a 3D-scanned Hercules beetle, 3D stage image models, masks, coins, dinosaurs and much more?
Curious now? The first data sets can already be viewed online: https://creating-new-dimensions.org/Datensets/
After the kick-off and the subsequent four-week sprint phase, we are looking forward to the final event on 24 October 2022 at the Museum für Naturkunde, where we will celebrate the winning teams with the most beautiful, creative, sustainable projects of the hackathon at the Museum für Naturkunde.
TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and NFDICulture are involved in the hackathon as partners together with many other institutions.
