The fifth edition of the workshop series “Retrodigitisation”, which will take place on 11 and 12 May 2023 at the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics in Kiel, will examine the topic of ethical and legal aspects of digitisation from different perspectives.
In practice, the question often arises as to whether and how sensitive material can be made available. This may involve ideologically charged material, for example from the Nazi era, documents or objects that affect personal rights, for example from medicine and sociology, or material from the colonial era that entails a special ethical responsibility.
The retro-digitisation workshop is a joint event of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz and the three German National Libraries TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and University Library, ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences and ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics.
