The Open-Access-Tage 2021 (Open Access Days) will take place virtually from 27 to 29 September 2021 under the motto “Participation”.
TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology is involved with several contributions: Together with its project partners, it will present some of its current OA projects and will use the OA Days - in accordance with the conference motto - for an intensive exchange with the community and for open discussions.
- Collaborative Open Access Publishing – A Field Report: In their field report, Prof. Dr. Ina Blümel and Simon Worthington from the TIB's Open Science Lab will present their findings on practice-oriented teaching in the field of Open Science. // When: 27 September 2021, 16:00 to17:00, Session #4: OA in education and training
- “Non-commercial is not enough. Why formal standards (should) also matter for YOUR publication”: Dr. Xenia von Edig (TIB) will talk about the importance of formal quality standards for OA journals. She also presents the new Open Access publishing platform TIB Open Publishing for journals and conference publications. // When: 29 September 2021, 13:30 to 15:00, Session # 9: Bright prospects: Standards for non-commercial OA
- B!SON – Recommendation service for quality-assured OA journals: In the course of the continuing OA transformation, scientists are faced with the challenge of identifying OA journals that are appropriate for their manuscripts. For this reason, the TIB and the Saxon State Library (SLUB), with the support of the DOAJ, OpenCitations and many national institutions, are setting up an open, free-of-charge recommendation service for quality-assured OA journals in the “B!SON” project (https://projects.tib.eu/bison) . Researchers receive a list of OA journals that are suitable in terms of content. The presentation by Josephine Hartwig (SLUB Dresden) will focus on the results of the requirements analysis for the recommendation service. // When: 28 September 2021, 14:00 to 15:30, Session #7: Value-added services around OA
- Poster session – KOALA and OPTIMETA projects will be presented: In the KOALA project, collaborative solutions for financing Open Access are being established. OPTIMETA is dedicated to strengthening the OA publishing system by integrating open citations and spatiotemporal metadata from OA journals with openly accessible data sources. // When: 28 September 2021, 11:30 to 13:00, Session: Posters and Pitches in gather.town
