Welcome to the 24th issue of "Aktuelles zu Open Access" for Leibniz Universität Hannover. We cover the latest developments in Open Access activities at Leibniz Universität Hannover and TIB, as well as general trends in the area of Open Access.

Open Access during the Covid-19 pandemic

The open-access.net platform provides a wide range of options for finding and publishing Open Access research on SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19, and on Open Science in times of the pandemic in general.


New call for bibliodiversity

Following the 2017 Jussieu Call, a new call for bibliodiversity has been published. The transformation to Open Access provides the opportunity to create a greater diversity in publishing formats and platforms.


ENABLE! - Mission Statement of the Initiative for Open Access in the Social Sciences and Humanities

The development of an inclusive open-access culture in the humanities and social sciences is the goal of the community project "ENABLE! Libraries, publishers and authors for open access in the social sciences and humanities". The aim is to bring together all those involved in scholarly publishing: researchers, universities and research institutes, libraries, professional associations, repositories, publishers, booksellers and service providers.


Open Access Uptake in Germany 2010-2018

A new study investigates the development of the share of Open Access journal articles by authors affiliated with German institutions in the period 2010-2018. It shows that 45 percent of all articles considered in the period under observation were openly available at the time of analysis. The most prevalent type is "green" Open Access via subject-specific repositories.


All IET journals to become Open Access from 2021

IET, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, already has 15 Open Access journals. The remaining 27 journals will be published Open Access from January 2021, when IET changes its publishing partner from IEEE to Wiley.


Open-Access-Tage 2020 to be held online

The Open-Access-Tage (Open Access Days) 2020, scheduled to take place in Bielefeld from 15 to 17 September, have been changed to an online meeting owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Proposals for posters and the tool marketplace, and applications for the position of chairperson may be submitted by 1 July 2020.

Webinar on Open Access requirements by funding agencies

Many research funding agencies, such as the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the EU, require that results from projects they have funded are published Open Access. In a webinar (in German), we explain how to comply with these requirements.

Open Access agreements with publishers

TIB has concluded Open Access agreements with several publishers that allow members of Leibniz Universität Hannover to publish Open Access at no cost or at a discounted rate. A detailed overview is provided on the TIB website.


Looking back at Open-Access-Tage 2019

The Open-Access-Tage (Open Access Days) 2019 brought together more than 400 participants from around the German-speaking world in Hannover to discuss recent Open Access developments in talks, posters, workshops and a tool marketplace. The presentations are available online; recorded talks are provided in the TIB AV portal.
