Electronmicroscopical investigations on SYVV in its transmitting agent Hyp. lactucae yielded the following results: In the main and cover cells of the salivary gland of infected lice (Hyp. lactucae virus was observed in the cytoplasm, nucleus, nucleoli, as well as in the prosecretory granula. During investigations of gastrical and intestinal cells as well as of embryons in their early phase of development, virus was also seen in the cytoplasm and cell nucleus. The neighboring fatty cells of the intestine and fatty cells in the embryons did also contain virus. (Author)
