The Jones Act refers to Section 27 of the Merchant Marine Act of 1920 [46 U.S.C. 55102; 19 CFR 4.80, 4.80(a) and 4.80(b)] which limits domestic maritime commerce to United States (U.S.) registered, owned, built, and crewed vessels. The following independent analysis will provide evidence supporting the Jones Act as the best economic alternative and a critical component of U.S. national security because of its contribution towards domestic security, power projection, and leveraging of commercial partnership.
