In the present experiment the photon beam collimator was removed from the tagging spectrometer, so the fraction of the tagged-photon flux that was incident on the face of the target (circular, diameter = 70 mm) and the face of the Cherenkov detector (square, side length = 100 mm) is different, so that a correction for the different boundary conditions of the target and Cherenkov detectors is required. The report provides a prescription for evaluating the tagging efficiency of the uncollimated and off-axis photon beam, allowing tagging efficiences of (approx) 75% to be determined with an accuracy of about 1%. For a collimated beam, the tagging efficiency is usually about 50%. The present analysis is not sensitive to inaccuracies in the magnitude of the theoretical expression for the bremsstrahlung cross sections. 6 refs., 5 figs. (Atomindex citation 23:015559)
