The vehicle function systems are daily tested in the production (function audit). The vehicles under test are selected out of all vehicles of the production line. The function audit helps to ensure a high-quality product. The individual vehicle description contains all function systems of the vehicle. The new method offers a possibility to automate the function audit. The tests quality is increased and the production time is reduced. The method comprises the following main focuses: 1. Selection and transformation of model characteristics: All relevant vehicle documents are selected by the system engineer in the first step. These selected documents are transformed into the vehicle model. The result is an initial total model (consists of use case diagrams, class diagrams and state diagrams) of the vehicle that must be completed manually by the system engineer. A highlight of this phase is the automatic integration of the required test instruction text into the vehicle model. 2. Integration of the functional structure: The system engineer completes the initial total model (class diagrams and state diagrams) in this phase. A highlight of this phase is the integration of the vehicle variety into the vehicle mode. The vehicle model now consists of use case diagrams, class diagrams and state diagrams. The vehicle model can now be configured automatically and vehicle-specifically by the individual vehicle description. 3. Generation of the test cases out of the vehicle model: The necessary test cases are generated automatically from the vehicle model. 4. Function audit: The real vehicle is connected to the test tool via an interface. The basis of the new function audit is an 'online' comparison between the individual vehicle models of the comfort functions and the real vehicle. The test engineer is now guided through the test tool by the function test.
