A theoretical investigation of propagation modes at microwaves frequencies in a blade of magnetized ferrite, the field being parallel to the blade surfaces, shows the existence of a non-classical mode called the dynamic mode. The latter falls into the surface wave category, is non-reciprocal and is guided by one of the ferrite surfaces. The useful bandwidth of such a device ranges over several octaves. Notwithstanding this case, the classical modes in the device under consideration may be envisaged. The paper gives a specific example of a practical application of the dynamic mode to a non-reciprocal device of the one-way wire carrier type. In this case the useful bandwidth attained is two octaves.
