The gas turbine V 93.2 represents a further developed form of the KWU gas turbine type V 93 proven up to now in about 300000 operating hours. By introducing blade cooling to the first vane, the turbine inlet temperature could be increased by 100 K. The first gas turbine of type V 93.2 was subjected to an extensive test program before being delivered to the customer. By means of a newly developed water friction brake, it has been possible, for the first time, to operate gas turbine at its maximum rating of about 80 MW in this test field. The description of this test stand, designed for a rating up to 120 MW, will be the first part of this paper. The second and third parts deal with the presentation and interpretation of the most important test results. An initial focal point of the extensive measuring program has been the analysis of all the components influenced directly ba the higher turbine inlet temperature. Part of this are especially the temperature distribution measurements in the flow ducts as well as in the cooled combustion chamber components and in the turbine blades. Another essential point was the measurements of the dynamic stresses in the rotating blades of all turbine stages as well as in the blades of four compressor stages being representative for all the other stages.
