A periodical inspection of even small amounts of oil in to bearings during the cyclic lubrication brings about considerable changes of the values of clearances as well as in energy losses. Stepnise increments of the negative values of clearance of order of 1 to 1.25 microms, observed at the moment of oil feed are followed by stepnise increments of power losses of hydraulic friction. Then increments are higher the higher are the oil viscosity and the rotational speed of a bearing. The stepnise increase of energy losses through the thermal increase of the bearing size - brings about secondary changes of clearance which exceed several times those resulting directly from the change of oil film thickness. The investigations have proved indirectly that the optimal working conditions of high speed bearing functions with respect to power consumption and working clearance stability may be achieved only by the minimal lubrication technique providing a continuous (not periodical) feed of small amounts of oil.
