This study will present the development and implementation of a tool prototype capable of improving the current maintenance procedure applied to the SIS (Safety Instrumented System) of the raw materials and products conveyor belts of the coke plant operational unity of CST-Arcelor Brasil. Complying with the safety regulations for the machines, these conveyors use several safety tools for operator's and machine protection. However, thanks to the equipment continuous mode of operation, currently the only way to inspect the protection switches is visually, which does not allow the technicians to make a detailed analysis and to guarantee its functionalities. Thus, the aim of this new tool is to allow the online inspection and testing of the safety switches without interfering in the production, aiming to guarantee its functionalities as required by the regulations.
