In dem AiF-Projekt 'Energieverbrauch Luftweben' wird die Luftströmung in einer Luftwebmaschine während des Schusseintrags untersucht. Zur Ermittlung des instationären Strömungsfeldes wird die Strömungssimulation (CFD) verwendet, die durch Strömungsmesstechnik validiert wird.
The presentation gives an overview of typical Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) process chains, and discusses the importance and benefits of using simulations at a very early stage in the machinery development cycle. Due to the hereby induced time and cost savings many more, even very new design concepts could be evaluated, which should result in the targeted increase of energy efficiency. As one simulation tool Computational Fluid Dynamics will be introduced and its benefits will be demonstrated based on various examples ranging from the production of fibres, to the spinning nozzle itself and finally to the optimization of air flow around a production line. Further examples of air-flow optimization are demonstrated at an air-jet nozzle for filament yarn production, the aerodynamic nonwoven process and air-jet weaving, where the weft yarn is inserted by compressed air. Within all these examples design modifications led to a much higher energy efficiency, which couldn't have been achieved by physical testing alone.
