A morphological approach (F. Zwicky, 1948) was used for analysis and synthesis of technical systems of hydrogen generation. In particular, processes for gasification of renewable biomass, steam conversion (wind energy), electrolysis of water (solar energy) and gasification of coal (nuclear energy) were included in the study. Storage of hydrogen in liquid or gaseous state or by adsorption in aluminium-galium-magnesium or indium alloys was taken into consideration. Both direct combustion of hydrogen and supplying fuel cells with hydrogen for generation of electrical energy and for driving the transport facilities were evaluated. Hydrogen from water electrolysis (energy from renewable sources) and its storage in vessels or in aluminium alloys was recommended for practical use in car driving or for generation of electricity.
