The problems associated with assessing the effects of clutches of different designs on the dynamics of machinery are considered. The inadequacy of clutches with a discrete number of elastic elements in units with high demands to their vibroacustic characteristics was shown. The interrelation of manufacturing errors of mating parts of the clutch and mounting errors of the connectable shafts has been stated. It was shown, that the dynamic parameters of the clutch are uniquely characterized by two criteria: the criterion of the power perfection and the quality criterion of making the clutch. An assessment of various types of clutches in the dependence on the magnitude of their effects on vibration characteristics of the unit and analytical expressions for calculating the static and driving forces and frictional forces is presented. Manufacturing errors of connectable clutch parts are the origin of forced strengthes acting with frequencies, which are the multiple rotation speed value.
