In global textile industry product variety is increasing continuously. This chronic increase triggers costs and complicates management team's business. At this point energy cost emerges as an important cost item. Producing energy is neither easy nor cheap but consuming energy is very easy. Therefore managing energy consumption and cost is very important for textile industry like all other industries. Starting from this point, a wider research was done about energy conservation approaches in textile industry. Past studies were usually focused on processes and machines but increasing product variety has not been adequately studied. Whereas this increase complicates production planning process. On the other hand commonly used delivery date based production planning may be inefficient in terms of energy consumption and cost management. Therefore a comparative literature research was done and energy conservation approaches on production scheduling were focused on, in this study.
