Fault tolerance group communications are highly desirable for maintaining a consistent state in the distributed systems. Many existing protocols are quite expensive and not very suitable for the reliability and efficiency of distributed systems. This paper presents a set of novel group communication and member-ship protocol algorithms that together achieve the efficient and fault tolerance group communication, member-ship management based on a logical token ring approach. The protocol ensures total ordering and atomicity of multicast messages in the presence of communication faults and site failures, guaranteeing that all non faulty members belonging to the same group observe a consistent view of ordered events affecting whole the group. The efficient member ship and failure recovery algorithms can handle member failures and restart, group partitions and merges, dynamic members join and leave. The efficiency and availability of the protocol are also shown with some performance figures.
