The objective of this effort was to investigate and define the nature of the maintenance and maintainability problems associated with the mechanical/electromechanical subsystems, equipments, assemblies and components of Air Force ground systems; further, to evaluate the current maintainability capability and practices associated with nonelectronic equipment. A maintenance data program was established to evaluate both preventive and corrective maintenance of nonelectronic equipment. Maintenance data, extracted from the AFM 66-1 'Maintenance Management System,' and AFM 65-110, 'Equipment Status Reporting System,', as well as 66-1 raw data from the 25th Air Division Headquarters were used in this study. Four systems were included in the investigation representing 125 installations and the equivalent of 1500 operating months.
