The emission phenomenon of a radiation source consisting of radium-226 sealed with radon-222 is described in terms of detecting the possibility of sudden loss of the source, and the resulting damages and contamination. Brief examinations of the methods generally used for measuring the fluorescence of radon are presented, and the characteristics that an ideal instrument for measuring the fluorescence are described including the noninterference of the instrument with the phenomenon being examined, and the capability to discriminate between the alpha emitted from the radon and the gamma emitted by the source. The scheme for the proposed gas scintillation detector for measuring the intensity of fluorescence of radon with the source of radium is presented.
