A study of library and information science education research needs begins with a collection of readings which provide information on current research, along with needs in the areas of goals and curricula; library school administration, faculty, and students; the relationship among professional associations, library schools, and libraries; the library school and library staffing requirements; continuing education; the role of the library community; and the use of the Delphi technique in determining research priorities. Results of a survey (using the Delphi technique) to forecast research needs in library and information education, and to establish priorities, are tabulated. A list of major research needs includes the improvement and updating of the skills of professional librarians, and improvements in library school planning. Other needs are listed in decreasing order of importance.
