Methods for the determination of uranium in urine, which are used in the Institute of Nuclear Research for monitoring the uranium-exposed workers, are described in detail. There are two procedures for the natural uranium, via a quick and simple method A based on a direct fluorimetric determination of uranium in the ashed urine sample and a time-consuming but more accurate method B in which a separation of uranium by extracting it with ethyl acetate precedes the measurement of the fluorescence. Method C for the estimation of exp 235 U also consists of an extraction with ethyl acetate, but then the separated exp 235 U is determined by measuring the alpha activity of the sample.
