Some trials to reduce TV ghosts have been reported utilizing transversal filters. They are effective for video ghost reduction as well as for Teletext equalizing. Teletext signals are digital signals. In case of excess noise and ghosts, received signals often include errors. Especially, if the ghost is very large and is close to the main signal, the Teletext reception is poor, but the video signal reception is fair. For Teletest, and equalizer is needed especially for short echoes. The Teletext signal frequency spectrum is different from that of video signals. An optimum Teletext equalizer would, then, be different from that of a video equalizer. This paper describes a digital time domain equalizer for Teletext. For the training waveform, a part of the prefix portion of the Teletext data is employed instead of the vertical sync pulse.
