Block and graft copolymers act as oil in oil emulsifier for two non miscible liquids, each of them being a selective solvent of one of the sequences of the copolymer. This emulsifying effect has been studied for system acetonitrilecyclohexane in presence of dibloc (s.m.) or tribloc (s.m.s. An m.s.m.) copolymers of polystyrene (s) and polymethylmethacrylate (m). It has been possible to show that stability and viscosity of the emulsions, as well as the particle size of the disperses phase is a function of the composition, the molecular weight and the structure of the copolymers. According to bancroft's rule it appeared also that the continous phase the emulsion is preferentially formed by the solvent in which the emulsifier is the most soluble. (TITUS).
