A general characteristics of liquid crystalline polymer systems was given. Liquid crystalline diepoxy monomer with a tetracyclic aromatic diester of biphenyl-4,4-diol as a mesogenic unit was studied for its chemical structure by FT-IR and 1H NMR methods and was cured with 4,4-diaminodiphenylmethane, 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyridine or pimelic acid after filling with diphenyl aluminum phosphate nanorods. The process for curring and the thermal properties of resulting polymeric material were studied by differential scanning calorimetry. The structure of resulting composite material was evaluated with use of polarization microscope and by X-ray radiography. The temperature of formation of anisotropic polymer networks properties was determined. The possibility of preparation of homogeneously arranged materials with monodomain structures was limited with high viscosity of liquid crystalline monomer in smectic phase where the curing took place.
