The chemical composition, mechanical properties, physical properties and production process of Fe-23Mn-2Al-V austenitic steel were introduced. The samples were heated in a muffle furnace with the parameters similar to that used for the practical production process, And high temperature oxidation regulation of Fe-23Mn-2Al-V alloys is studied. The formation of cracks in the hot rolled plate was investigated with optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The results showed that intergranular and grain boundary oxidation in the reheating furnace is the main cause of cracks on the surface of steel plate. The occurrence of surface cracking could be obviously avoided by controlling the remaining oxygen content in the reheating furnace atmosphere and improving continuous casting process to increase the thickness of fine equiaxed grain layer of the slab.
