The Herrenknecht AG is technology and market leader in the mechanized tunnel driving. Since approximately 10 Herrenknecht years counts the Vertical Shaft Sinking Machine (VSM machine for a vertical shaft installation) to its product portfolio. With this machine technology which has previously worked onshore, it is possible to deepen shafts under the groundwater up to a diameter of 12 meters and a depth of 80 meters. The aim of the supported project was to develop this technology further and to establish foundation structures (especially monopile structures) for Offshore wind energy plants. Therefore, the Offshore operating conditions were defined and the machine technology accordingly adapted. There were decisive changes concerning the environmental effects as for example salt water and temperature. There were furthermore changes concerning the clamping of the unit within the pile, the extraction technology and the significantly increased excavation rate. Parallel to the advancement of the drilling technology a bored pile design was developed which enables the operation of the drilling technology. For a safe establishment of the pile , it is important that it has a lower outer diameter as the borehole. The annular gap between bored pile and geology is injected with a specially developed grout. This grout ensures on the one hand a lower friction during the installation process, and otherwise it is hardening after a certain and adjustable time and anchors the pile very strong in the borehole. In the course of the project a logistic s concept has been worked out. This concept describes how the bored pile is transported to the correspondent location and how it is installed. Furthermore, the creation of a deck-layout was content of the logistics concept. For this, the required equipment was defined and placed on deck (with regard to the correspondent workflow in the functional group).
