In the introduction of this paper references to two new turbocharger types for low and very high engine outputs are made. Then the radial compressors, their design, service range and efficiency are dealt with. The type of construction of 'NR' turbocharger with radial turbines is explained: 1 Design of radial-inflow turbines with test results, 2. Effect of pulsating exhaust gas admission on bearings and impeller vanes, vibration measurements. Then turbochargers with axial turbines in two types for four-stroke and two stroke engines are dealt with: 1. Design problems and test results of turbine stages, 2. Vibration characteristics of turbine blades without and with damping wire on engine and during stationary partial admission, test results and causes of blade fractures.
