Formal layout requirements
- Title page with exact wording according to Appendix 3
- Back of the title page with referee, co-referee and the date of the doctorate
- Abstract (always in English, an additional German version is also possible)
- 3 German and/or 3 English keywords on the content
- Table of contents
- List of abbreviations
- Text of the thesis with continuous page numbering
- List of sources and references
- Academic career (if requested by the faculty or the author)
- The page numbering should be continuous, including tables, tables and appendices
Checklist for PhD theses
🗸 I have designed the cover sheet according to the specifications (s. Anl. 3 Mustertitelblatt)
🗸 I have made sure that the pages are numbered consecutively.
🗸 I have clarified or obtained the rights of use for the use of materials that do not originate from me (e.g. images or tables).
🗸 I have labelled all third-party materials and cited the sources correctly (e.g. in a caption or in the appendix)
🗸 I have chosen a suitable licence for the digital publication of my dissertation.
🗸 I took care of the publication of my research data.
🗸 I have created the PDF file in the PDF/A standard.
Additionally for cumulative theses:
- I have the right to use previously published parts in the dissertation because
- the previously published part is an open access publication under a free licence or
- it is permitted under the licence agreement signed/agreed at the time of publication or
- the publisher has granted me the right in writing upon request.
- I have obtained the consent of co-authors (if any) to use previously published parts in the dissertation.
