Support for scientific institutions with the local integration and configuration of B!SON
Description
In a BMBF-funded project, TIB developed the B!SON tool: a recommender system that recommends quality-assured Open Access journals that match a given manuscript. The service is free to use, the source code is available as free software. In the transfer project "B!SON in Lower Saxony", carried out by TIB, the focus is on embedding B!SON in the services offered by scientific institutions in Lower Saxony: these institutions can offer the B!SON input mask as part of their digital services for publishing support, query the recommendations via an API (interface) and display the results to their local users in their own look and feel. In addition, the search results can be modified decentrally based on local conditions (enrichment with institution-specific data, e.g. on OA discount agreements, deletion of unwanted recommendations, etc.). A prototype of such a local embedding has been developed by the SLUB Dresden as part of the B!SON project, an adaptation for the TIB is also in preparation. The project is primarily aimed at institutions in Lower Saxony, but interested institutions outside Lower Saxony can also be supported and advised.
